About the RNAS-C Exam

The RNAS-C exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions and must be completed in 3 hours. You are allowed one 15-minute break, if needed.

  • Anatomy & Physiology  (33 questions – 22% of exam)
  • Procedure Considerations  (33 questions – 22% of exam)
  • Pre- and Postoperative Considerations  (18 questions – 12% of exam)

RNAS-C Exam Development

The RNAS-C exam was developed by subject matter experts including RNs, RNFAs and RNFA educators. Test questions are regularly reviewed and updated by subject matter experts to maintain accuracy and currency. NASC has been administering the RNAS-C exam since 2009.

RNAS-C Exam Details

  • 150 multiple choice questions.
  • Three hours to complete the exam with one optional 15-minute break.
  • Remote proctored exam.
  • Each question has four answer options; only one answer is correct.
  • Passing score is 70%.

RNAS-C Testing Procedures

The RNAS-C exam is offered as a live remote proctored exam through Prolydian. Live remote proctored exams can be taken in the comfort of your own home or workplace. For more information, see Prolydian’s test taker FAQs. You can schedule your exam 24/7 and 365 days of the year.

RNAS-C Exam Fees

The fee to take the exam for RNAS-C certification is $425.

Scheduling Your Exam

Once your application is accepted, you will be given an account with Prolydian. You can schedule your exam directly from your Prolydian account.

Changing Test Appointment

You can reschedule your test appointment from your Prolydian account any time up to four hours before your exam appointment. If you fail to reschedule your exam and do not keep your appointment, your entire testing fee is forfeited.

Testing Deadlines

You must test within 4 months of submitting your application. If you do not complete your exam within 4 months, your entire testing fee is forfeited.

Test Results

You will be informed of your test results within 72 hours.

Exam Retake

If you do not pass the exam upon your first attempt, you may retake the exam within 90 days of the original test date, yet no sooner than 45 days. Candidates cannot test more than three times within a 12-month period. The retake fee is $195.
